How do I register on the website?
1) Browse Courses for options or enter course name in search
2) Click on course of interest (clicking on the blue class name will give you more detailed information)
3) Click Add to My Shopping Cart at the top of the page. (** You will be prompted to sign in if you haven’t already.
If you are a new student you will need to click Create Student Profile to create your personal account before proceeding.)
4) Select additional courses if desired
5) To checkout, click on "checkout" in upper right hand corner of screen in shopping cart box
6) Check refund policy box (to indicate that you understand these terms)
7) Click on "checkout" at the bottom
8) Enter credit card information and click submit
9) Print your receipt and course confirmation
*** Remember, you must have a username and passcode to register. You can create this by clicking on sign in and create user profile. If you have a username and passcode but have forgotten them, please call the office at 973-746-6636.
*** Registration via website requires use of Mastercard, Visa or Discover Card.
How do I register by mail or phone?
The fastest way to register is by completing the transaction yourself via the web site. If this doesn't work for you, you may
1) Send your registration card with a check or money order and a signed waiver (see back of catalog or link on website) to: The Adult School of Montclair, 100 Chestnut St, Montclair, NJ 07042 and the office staff will process your registration in the order received.
2) Call the office at 973-746-6636 and the office staff will process your registration in the order received. You will need to bring a signed waiver to the first class.

Why does ASM ask for my contact information? ASM uses contact information to communicate class changes or cancellations. We DO NOT share this information with any other organization and value your private information as much as you do.
Is there a registration fee? Yes. A non refundable registration fee of $10.00 is charged once per person, per term.
Do I have to sign a waiver? Yes. The Board of Education is now requiring that all students attending ASM classes sign a waiver. This does not apply to online classes.
What if I do not want to sign a waiver? If you do not sign a waiver and have already registered, we will remove you from class.
Why won't the system allow me to register? If the class is full, there will be a solid red box visible. You may choose to put yourself on the waiting list at this point.
How do I get a catalog? Click on the catalog image at the top left of the page and fill out your contact information and click submit!
Who is eligible to take ASM classes? Classes are open to students of high-school age and older, unless otherwise indicated in the course description. You do not need to be a Montclair resident to register for a class.
What if I am dissatisfied with my class? Please contact the office immediately and we will try our best to address your concerns!!
If I miss a class, can I make it up by attending another class or by making it up next semester? No, students may not make up absences by attending classes other than their own or by attending the same class the following semester.
What if weather is inclement or instructor must cancel? If the weather is inclement please go to the web site for updates on classes. If a class must be canceled for the evening due to weather or other issues, ASM will schedule a make-up class. ASM does not issue refunds for these classes.
Where is ASM located? Please return to homepage and click "contact" link in red at the top right of the page.
What are the office hours? Please return to homepage and look at blue left hand menu.
Are classes handicapped-accessible? Because classes are held in multiple locations, we ask that you call us directly so we can accommodate your needs.
When do onsite classes meet? Onsite classes begin in early October and early March. Watch the web site for details. Note that for Fall 2011, some of our offstie classes will begin in mid-September.
When do online classes take place? Ed2go online classes start every month and can be taken anytime during the 6-8 week duration of the class. New lessons are released at noon on Wednesdays and Fridays of the 6 - 8 week session. Rosetta Stone online language classes begin quarterly and can be accessed 24/7.
ASM Refund Policy
If the Adult School has to cancel a course or trip, you will receive a refund of the full course/trip fee.
If you need to withdraw from a course and notify us at least one week before the course starts, or if you need to withdraw from a trip and notify us at least two weeks before the trip starts, you will receive a refund of the course/trip fee less an administrative fee of $10. Refunds are made using the original method of payment. The registration fee is not refundable.
If you do not provide us with one week advance notice for courses or two weeks advance notice for trips, you will not receive a refund.
The Adult School of Montclair reserves the right to change course locations, schedules, and instructors when necessary. In the event that a scheduling change poses a conflict, please advise the Adult School office to request a credit or refund.
